Olympic gold medalists Kevin Young, Linford Christie, Quincy Watts and Gwen Torrence won their events as 10 Olympic champions and three world record-holders competed in Sheffield, England.

Young scored an easy victory over American McLinton Nealt and Britain’s Kriss Akabusi in the 400-meter hurdles in 47.67 seconds, slower than he ran in Barcelona.

Christie, who won the 100-meter gold medal at Barcelona, beat American Ross Drummond by a foot in 10.35 seconds.

Watts, the Olympic 400-meter champion, won in 44.96 seconds, and Torrence, who won the women’s 200 meters at Barcelona, won again in 22.90 seconds.

Gail Devers coasted in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, in 12.79 seconds, as Jackie Joyner-Kersee was fifth in 13.32.
