San Marino : Building Work Hours Eased
Responding to complaints by commercial property owners, the City Council voted last week to ease restrictions on the hours of seismic reinforcement work and the installation of fire sprinklers.
Under a city code amendment adopted Wednesday, building owners will be allowed to conduct the state-mandated work from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Previously, such work was permitted only until 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 4 p.m. Saturdays. The ordinance does not limit work inside buildings, except on Sundays, when all work is forbidden.
Proprietors had complained that they did not have enough time to reinforce their buildings without hindering tenants’ business.
