Famine and War in Somalia

Share

Somalia facing starvation much worse than the terrible Ethiopian famine; Afghanistan where hundreds have died in recent intramural mayhem; Yugoslav babies targeted by sharpshooter sectarians: Another Sunday Times (Aug. 10).

President Bush signed an agreement at the U.N. Summit for Children two years ago that the U.S. would join other countries in funding child survival and basic education programs. Legislation just passed by the House was insufficient by $100 million in meeting the promise made by Bush.
