Steps Taken to Mark Jefferson’s Birthday

WASHINGTON —
President Bush signed into law Monday a bill establishing a commission to plan and develop an observance of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Jefferson.
Jefferson, the third President, was born April 13, 1743.
Among the commission members will be the archivist of the United States, the secretary of the Interior, the secretary of education, the chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the librarian of Congress.
