WORLD IN BRIEF : KYRGYZSTAN : 50 Dead Reported in 7.5 Quake

About 50 people are known to have been killed in Wednesday’s earthquake near Kyrgyzstan’s border with China, and rescue workers have not yet reached the epicenter of the temblor, Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency reported. The U.S. earthquake information service in Golden, Colo., recorded the quake at a magnitude of 7.5.
