WORLD IN BRIEF : SOUTH KOREA : Formal Ties to China Expected

South Korea and China will establish diplomatic relations Monday, state-owned radio reported. The Korea Broadcasting System said Foreign Minister Lee Sang Ok will go to Beijing on Sunday for a three-day visit during which he will sign an agreement on diplomatic ties. Western sources said the move is aimed in part at improving Seoul’s relations with North Korea.
