Black Nominees for DWP Board

In regard to the rejection of Lomax, the reasons for her rejection are appalling and show the subliminal racism at the upper echelons of government. It is quite clear to all African-Americans here in the U.S. and hopefully throughout the world that there is an invisible ceiling in the U.S. on the involvement of African-Americans in major decision-making.

In reading your article, I find it appalling that Ferraro can make a statement scolding Lomax with these words, “the fact that she gave confidential city information to the enemy . . . .” This says to African-Americans who identify and support the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, you are the enemy. We African-Americans in the U.S. and particularly in L.A. would like to know from the council president why we are the enemy in his mind. Is it because we want to be part of the decision-making process that affects our daily lives or is it because America still cannot allow the African-American to fully participate at the higher levels of government?

If America is to grow and survive, it will be from the talents of African-Americans.
