Asian students are often stereotyped as the bookworms, library freaks.

For me, academics has always been a top priority. But I found a balance with my studies and involved myself in sports, the school newspaper, the pep squad and held a part-time job.

There is constant whining and bellyaching from other students about how poorly they are doing. And if it wasn’t for that “Asian guy,” they would be passing. Is that “Asian guy” really so bad because he excels in the classroom?

The truth is that the majority of Asian students are much more competitive than the average student. Academics is seen as a crucial role toward the advancement to a higher learning institution and a secure future.
