Ballet, Opera Schedule Auditions

Ballet Pacifica will hold auditions for its December production of the “Nutcracker” on Sept. 19 at the company studios, 1863 South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. A $5 audition fee will be required. Information: (714) 642-9275.

Meanwhile, preliminary auditions for the Metropolitan Opera will be held Oct. 3 at Memorial Hall, Chapman University in Orange. Applications and a $20 fee must be submitted by Sept. 19. Sopranos, mezzo-sopranos and contraltos must have turned 19 and tenors, baritones and bases must have turned 20 by Aug. 1. No applicant may be older than 33. Winners at Chapman will compete in the Western Regional Finals in Los Angeles on Nov. 12.
