Strike Deadline Nears at One of GM’s Ohio Plants: Talks between General Motors Corp. and the United Auto Workers union aimed at averting a strike at the company’s Lordstown, Ohio, fabrication plant continued late Wednesday, the auto maker said. About 2,300 hourly workers gave GM until 10 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time today to resolve disputes over air quality and the use of subcontractors. The plant builds body parts for the Pontiac Sunbird and Chevrolet Cavalier and for GM’s Saturn plant in Spring Hill, Tenn. A strike would shut down the nearby Lordstown assembly plant, which recently began round-the-clock production.
