Jacques Tati retrospective Tuesday on Bravo: Jour de Fete (1949, at 6:30 p.m.), Mon Oncle (1958, at 8 p.m.), Playtime (1967, at 10 p.m.) and Mr. Hulot’s Holiday (1953, Wednesday at 1:30 a.m.) suggest that Tati was a true successor to Charlie Chaplin in his humor, pathos and social commentary. Where Chaplin tended to be sentimental, Tati was dry and witty.

La Traviata (Bravo Saturday at 4 p.m., again at 10:30 p.m.) Ultra-lush 1982 Franco Zeffirelli treatment of the Verdi opera with Teresa Stratas and Placido Domingo, whose voices are all but upstaged by the sets and costumes.
