Mortimer G. Rosen; Obstetrician Was Leader in Prenatal Care

Mortimer G. Rosen, 60, a leader in the field of prenatal care. The obstetrician-gynecologist was an expert on the fetal brain and a vigorous advocate for improving the quality of prenatal care in the United States. He wrote “The Cesarean Myth: Choosing the Best Way to Have Your Baby” in 1989, the 1990 textbook “Management of Labor” and “In the Beginning: Your Baby’s Brain Before Birth” in 1975. He was chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at New York City’s Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center at the time of his death. In New York on Thursday of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
