Man Arrested in Courthouse Threat
A San Jose man who doused his clothes with gasoline and threatened to blow himself up Monday at the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice apparently felt he was treated unfairly by the criminal justice system, police said.
Duane Lee DeFord, 34, was arrested and booked on felony charges of possessing a hoax bombing device, possessing a firebomb and terrorist use of a destructive device, said sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Kahn.
DeFord was being treated at a hospital for ingesting a concentrated household cleaning agent, gasoline and chili peppers, Kahn said.
