GM to Make Right-Hand-Drive Saturn for Japan: General Motors Corp. plans to start exporting a right-hand-drive version of its Saturn car to Japan by the end of 1995, GM Japan said. Right-hand-drive cars have the steering wheel on the right side, which is the norm in Japan, and the new Saturn will be the first right-hand-drive model built in the United States by the world’s biggest auto maker. The Saturn was launched in the United States in the autumn of 1990. Analysts say the move is a significant step forward for GM because it is a sign that the company recognizes the need to change its strategy to meet local demand.
