BEVERLY HILLS : Malfunction Cuts Power to Nearly 900 Customers
An underground electrical transformer malfunctioned in Beverly Hills Tuesday, briefly cutting off power to nearly 900 commercial and residential customers.
The problem developed about 9 a.m. at Santa Monica Boulevard and Alpine Drive, according to a spokeswoman for Southern California Edison Co.
About 90% of the 845 customers affected by the blackout had their electricity back within 45 minutes, and crews worked to restore power to the rest. The cause of the malfunction is under investigation.
