Saratoga Dew Wins Gazelle at Belmont

Saratoga Dew challenged front-running Vivano nearing the stretch and then wore her down in the final furlong to score a 1 1/4-length victory in the $171,900 Grade I Gazelle Handicap at 1 1/8 miles Wednesday at Belmont Park.

Saratoga Dew, ridden by Herb McCauley, won for the seventh time in nine starts this year, with five of those victories coming in added money events. Saratoga Dew was beaten by a nose in Saratoga’s Alabama by November Snow in her previous start.

Vivano, who enjoyed a comfortable early lead, held on for second and finished 4 1/4 lengths ahead of third-place Tiney Toast in the field of six 3-year-old fillies.

Saratoga Dew covered 1 1/8 miles on the fast track in 1:47 3/5 and returned $4, $3 and $2.40.
