David Horowitz

I learned this morning that consumer reporter David Horowitz has been dropped from the KNBC evening newscast (“KNBC Drops Horowitz, Consumer Unit,” Aug. 22). While this causes me great personal and professional dismay, the loss to Southern California consumers will be that of consistent and unbiased information on a wide variety of consumer topics. And Horowitz’s advocacy for consumer rights went far beyond Southern California and frequently made a positive difference nationally.

Unless there is a reversal of this decision by KNBC management, it will be critical that other media in Southern California respond to the void that has been created in responsible consumer reporting. I hope the Los Angeles Times and other Southern California media will recognize the value of educated consumers in our society and increase their own efforts to better inform consumers of issues and their rights.
