Teammates Ed McCulloch of Hemet, Calif., and Cruz Pedregon of Moorpark, Calif., won titles at the NHRA U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
McCulloch scored the first top fuel victory after 22 years in the funny car ranks. Pedregon became the first driver in NHRA history to make four consecutive runs below 5.20 seconds in winning the funny car title.
Other winners were Warren Johnson of Duluth, Ga., in pro stock and Dave Schultz of Ft. Myers, Fla., in pro stock bike.
