ABC Pours a ‘Nightcap’: ABC is planning to test a late-night variety-talk show this fall that will be hosted by Robin Leach and have some home-shopping elements. The show, called “Nightcap,” is intended to follow “Nightline” and will air on stations that want to try out the concept. Many stations already have commitments to carry syndicated shows in that time slot. In 1989, ABC tested another post-”Nightline” show, “Day’s End,” but it did not catch on. “Nightcap” begins Oct. 19.
