ELITE MEMBERSHIP: Talk about exclusive clubs. . . . To make the United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society, you have to donate $10,000 annually to the cause. But to make the society’s round table , it takes a gift of $1 million--and only two Orange County couples have done it. First it was Peter Ochs, president of the Fieldstone Co., and wife Gail. Now hamburger magnate Carl N. Karcher and wife Margaret have joined them. The Karchers will be honored for their 1991 gift at a breakfast today at Newport Beach’s Pacific Club.
