VAN NUYS : Man Gets Jail for Slapping Girlfriend
- Share via
A Van Nuys man has been sentenced to 150 days in jail for slapping his girlfriend during an argument over a Nintendo game, Los Angeles City Atty. Jim Hahn said Thursday.
William Hicks, 46, pleaded no contest Wednesday to one count of battery. He was then found in violation of his probation from a prior conviction on the same charge involving the same victim.
Van Nuys Municipal Judge Isabel Cohen also placed Hicks on three years’ unsupervised probation and ordered him not to annoy the victim, said Deputy City Atty. Christopher Bobo, who prosecuted the case.
Bobo said Hicks slapped his 29-year-old girlfriend on Aug. 9 when they quarreled while playing Nintendo at the woman’s apartment.
On Oct. 15, Hicks was sentenced to 35 days in jail and placed on two years’ unsupervised probation after his earlier battery conviction.
