TREK TRIPPED: A Vancouver-Calgary visit by a local nine-city monorail consortium was axed recently, after transportation board member Dana Reed complained it would violate the policy barring vendor-paid trips. The Canadian government was picking up most of the tab on behalf of rail car builders there. Consortium officials, who wanted to study Canadian rail systems, say scheduling conflicts--not Reed’s letter--caused the postponement. . . . But when they reschedule, the Canadians won’t be paying.
