Laguna Shanti Supports AIDS Walk

We at Laguna Shanti were very displeased that when the letter to the editor from the president of our board of directors, Craig Florence, was printed Aug. 23 (“Building on Laguna Shanti Struggles”), two very significant sentences were deleted.

They read, “To those at AIDS Walk OC, we want you to know that we understand our application (for funding) did not meet some requirements. This knowledge will enable us to submit a completed application in order to be considered for funds from next year’s walk.”

In light of the slant portrayed in many of the articles that erroneously pitted Laguna Shanti as blaming AIDS Walk OC for its woes, we feel the deletion of these sentences was a grave miscarriage of information. Clearly, the lack of additional fund resourcing by Laguna Shanti was the reason for cash-flow problems.

We believe the AIDS Walk OC administration and policies are beyond reproach and impeccable. We are truly sorry that others quoted made accusations questioning the politics of AIDS Walk OC. We at Laguna Shanti support AIDS Walk OC 100%.
