Mistaken Identity: It turns out that it wasn’t Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain sitting in with Pearl Jam on Saturday during the “Lollapalooza ‘92” show at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre. The faux Cobain--who apparently fooled a good portion of the crowd after being introduced as Cobain by Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder--was actually L.A.-based drummer Jack Irons (a longtime friend of Vedder and a former member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) wearing a blond, Cobain-like wig. According to Nirvana’s manager, Cobain at the time was on his way back to L.A. from Seattle, where the band played a homecoming concert Friday.
