Dan Quayle on Values
So Danny and Billy didn’t want to go to war. Let’s try this little experiment. Would every white male in his 40s, who grew up in a middle-income or higher-income family, please stand up. OK, would those of you who tried in some way, successfully or not, to avoid being drafted please sit down. Oh my. Where did everyone go?
It was a very rare young man who wanted to go to Vietnam. Most of us wanted to finish our educations, get a job, get a cool car and party on weekends. We were kids.
So when you think of Quayle and Clinton dodging the draft, don’t think of the mature adults on TV. Think of that teen-ager flopped out on the floor next to you.
