MISSED THE PARTY: In his campaign literature, Assembly candidate Jim Toledano of Costa Mesa says he wants to protect the coastline and he’s pro-choice on abortion. What it does not tell you: he’s a Democrat. He’s running against incumbent Gil Ferguson (R-Newport Beach) in the new 70th Assembly District, which is overwhelmingly Republican. . . . But Toledano defends his brochure: “Party doesn’t matter this year. Voters are fed up with incumbents; I think they’re sick of both parties.”
