I strongly identified with Cross’ experiences of discrimination in the workplace. When I was applying to medical school in the University of California system in the late ‘60s, I was specifically discriminated against because of my race and sex, despite my superior academic record. (I am a white male, and this was before the Bakke decision.)

Let’s start by getting rid of the racist, sexist institution of affirmative action, which has not really helped minorities in the slightest. Two wrongs . . . .
