Multimedia PCs Pact: PCC Group, a computer “clone” manufacturer in Brea, has signed a letter of intent with a Louisiana company to market and distribute jointly a line of multimedia computers for the educational market.

Under the deal with MIND Training Systems Inc., a Louisiana subsidiary of Profit Technology Corp. in Boca Raton, Fla., PCC Group’s computers will be bundled and sold with a variety of educational software. An agreement is expected to be signed Sept. 30.

MIND Training Systems owns more than 800 titles of educational software that it is converting to a compact-disk, read-only (CD-ROM) format, a form of optical data storage similar to compact disk players that can store hundreds of times more data than standard computer disks. Multimedia computers are souped up with components that give them compact-disc-quality sound effects and motion-picture-quality video graphics. PCC Group said it hopes that the new technology will be especially appealing to children learning to use computers.
