Welfare Plan’s Effect on Infants

Share

With regard to the issue of families on welfare I should like to make some personal observations. Both the Republican and the Democrats are against families on welfare, and there is no question that both parties vilify these people.

This is understandable, because life is not “a paid check” to use a phrase in use in the gangster movies. But, upon considering the issue a little more objectively, I have come to the conclusion that the whole thing is a sham: the most virulent publicity against helpless people.

Let us be against welfare families because they are subsidized by people who work but, at the same time, if we want to be fair and just, we should also be against subsidies to farmers, to middle-class homeowners, to people working on military bases when there is no need to have them, etc. Why do we always pick on the welfare families? We do it because they cannot defend themselves.

What is the solution? Let us stop all subsidies, or subsidize all groups equally. People speak of “family values” but there are no family values when there is no sense of justice or fairness. And both the Republicans and the Democrats mouth these words, when they “know in their hearts” that they are simply lying, which has become a new national sport lately.
