Welfare Plan’s Effect on Infants

In response to “Must Babies Bear the Brunt?” editorial, Sept. 10:

Why is it such a sin to force able-bodied welfare mothers of infants or toddlers to work? What in the world do they think the rest of the non-welfare mothers do? Wouldn’t all mothers like to stay home with pay until their child is at least 3?

Maybe the passing of Proposition 165 will open the door to reality for welfare mothers and show them how it feels to work and just break even.
