COLLEGE FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Pressure Affected Second-Half Offense

Share

After gaining 221 yards in the first half of last week’s 17-10 victory against Brigham Young, UCLA had only 83 yards in the second half.

“Brigham Young came out in the second half trying to put more pressure on me,” quarterback Rob Walker said. “We adjusted fairly well, but there were a few instances where I could have gotten us off the hook by calling a different play or audibling at the line. But I think we handled it pretty well, considering that we really hadn’t prepared for them coming out in the second half and trying to put any pressure on us. We thought they were going to play the way they did in the second half.”

The Bruins are throwing more to tight end Rick Daly, who caught a career-high four passes for 41 yards against BYU. Daly finished last season with 11 receptions for 108 yards.

“There weren’t any plays that were specifically designed for Rick Daly,” Walker said. “I just went out there with the attitude that I was going to throw to the open man and fortunately Rick Daly was on the receiving end of a couple of those routes.”
