Mariners Use 29 Players, Rangers 25

Texas and Seattle combined for several records in a game that Seattle won, 4-3, in 16 innings Friday night.

The 54 players used by both teams established a major league record for an extra-inning game. The Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros used 53 players in an 18-inning game on Sept. 2, 1986.

The Mariners also set a major league mark for an extra-inning game by using 11 pitchers, and set a club record by using 29 players.

The Rangers used four shortstops, tying a major league record. The 25 players used by Texas tied a club record. A total of 18 Rangers struck out, setting a club mark.
