Pollard Case
While Jonathan Pollard rots in prison, the whole world swaps technology. The same technology that Pollard obtained for Israel--for its security. At this very moment, the Bush government is arranging that Israel have access to the latest technology to counteract any advantages that the Saudis have obtained through the 72 high-performance F-15XP warplanes to be delivered to them.
Pollard has been punished enough, and if President Bush truly wants the Jewish vote, this might well be an opportune time to show some humanity. Perhaps Caspar Weinberger could use his influence--as he did at Pollard’s trial--in exchange for leniency in his own misgivings.
