Jerry Dusenberry of Portland, Ore., was elected president of United States Amateur Boxing during the closing day of the national governing body’s 1992 annual meeting.

He succeeds Billy Dove of Bowie, Md. Dusenberry, 52, recently served as the United States’ lone referee-judge in the Olympics at Barcelona.

The organization also announced recepients of its outstanding achievement awards for 1992:

Oscar De La Hoya, the United States’ sole gold medalist in Olympics, boxer of the year; Woody Gregory of Charleston, S.C., to the USA Boxing Hall of Fame; Israel Acosta of Milwaukee and U.S. Olympic Coach Joe Byrd of Flint, Mich., coaches of the year; Al Robinson of Hampton, S.C., official of the year; and Dr. Bill Hatch of Prescott, Ariz., physician of the year.
