The NBA averted a potential lockout of its referees when a three-year contract agreement was reached with the officials’ union Friday.

NBA general counsel Gary Bettman, who handled negotiations on behalf of the league, had previously said the league was offering a deal that increased officials’ pay by 29% in the first year and 74% overall.

The officials will attend training camp this weekend.
