Bill Anton and His Successor
So Bill Anton has tendered his resignation to the L.A. Board of Education (Sept. 23). I can’t blame him.
I was employed in a supervisory capacity (classified) by the district for 13 years. It was evident long before I left the district (in March of 1991), that UTLA would get whatever it wanted from the board. It was easy to see the growing resentment among the rank and file as their co-workers were being demoted or laid off due to budget cuts. All this while the teaching ranks went unscathed.
