Dubcek in Very Serious Condition After Surgery

PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia —
Alexander Dubcek, leader of Czechoslovakia’s abortive 1968 “Prague Spring” reforms, who has been in the hospital since a car crash last month, is in very serious condition, the state news agency CSTK reported Wednesday.
Dubcek, 70, underwent emergency abdominal surgery Tuesday, his second operation since the Sept. 1 accident.
