U.S. Cigarette Kiosks in Russia Firebombed
Four American cigarette kiosks were firebombed Wednesday, the latest in a wave of attacks blamed on a price war with organized crime.
Last week, two red and white kiosks bearing advertisements for Marlboro cigarettes were firebombed and another was doused with gasoline and set ablaze. No injuries have been reported.
Grigory Ronin, a spokesman for a firm that administers the kiosks for tobacco giant Philip Morris, has blamed the bombings on criminals angered by low cigarette prices at St. Petersburg’s 23 Marlboro kiosks.
