Late Goals Boost UCI in Water Polo

UC Irvine scored four times in the fourth quarter to pull away and beat UC San Diego, 11-7, in a nonconference water polo match Thursday at Heritage Park.

Pablo Yrizar and Marc Hunt each had three goals for Irvine (6-6), which is ranked fifth in the nation. Irvine led, 7-6, after three quarters, but Yrizar scored the first two goals of the fourth period to put Irvine ahead, 9-6. Steve Gill and Mark Stevenson scored two goals each.
