No Respect for Schools

Share

Just the idea of printing on one page letters to the editor about how awful school is in the un-air-conditioned classroom, and on the next page another article on adding air conditioning to Pierce College (costing $3 million), is absolutely incredible.

I attend Pierce and teach young children. I would gladly give up any form of cooling system to any elementary, junior or high school. We college students do not need it, compared to these kids who are very active and already have enough against them!

The way education is operating in this pathetic state is scary. There is no money for books, paper or even teachers’ pay. I am completely disgusted at the school board. What exactly is the top priority here? I thought it was to be the future of the children, not the school board’s high salary and comfort in their air-conditioned offices.

My top priority now is receiving my credential and leaving California to find somewhere where education gets the respect it deserves.
