Jacot Sparks SCC to 28-0 Victory Over La Verne

Mike Jacot rushed for 179 yards in 17 carries and scored a touchdown to lead Southern California Christian past La Verne, 28-0, before a crowd of 400 at Brea-Olinda High School.

Jacot scored the only points of the first half when he ran 33 yards for the score, capping a nine-play, 66-yard drive that gave the Flames a 7-0 lead with 7:24 left in the second quarter.

The Flames put the game away in the third quarter as they scored 14 consecutive points. The first score came on an eight-yard run by quarterback Mike Felton, capping a 10-play, 52-yard drive with 7:12 left in the quarter.

It took the Flames less than five minutes to score again, as Ron Wood ran in from four yards to give the Flames a 21-0 lead with 2:32 left in the third quarter.

The final score came as a result of a Trojan turnover. Chris Rice fumbled on his 20. The Flames recovered and scored on a 13-yard run three plays later.
