I’m Black and White

I’ve watched the riots with such concern.

The more I watch the more about hate I learn.

People hating people for the color of their skin.

They don’t know in God’s eyes we’re all kin.

I feel so lucky to be both black and white.

It gives me more time to sleep at night.

I don’t lie awake with hate running in my head.

Tossing and turning in my bed.

I don’t have to choose any sides.

I’m the best of both with a lot of pride.

Since I am both and so is my brother.

I can tell you one half isn’t better than the other.

Please stop judging a book by its cover!!!
