Elk’s Foundation Is Now Accepting Applications for Four Scholarships

The Elk’s Foundation is again offering four scholarships for high school seniors and adults. Application deadlines and requirements will vary, so contact any Elk’s lodge for information. The scholarships:

* The National Eagle Scout scholarship is open to any graduating senior who will be a registered Eagle scout by the Feb. 28, 1993, application deadline. The Boy Scouts of America and the Elk’s Foundation are offering $3,000 and $8,000 scholarships with a national grand prize of $40,000.

* The vocational scholarship offers $1,000 per year for two years to high school seniors or adults who wish training or retraining in a two-year program in the vocational/technical/trades area. Applications are being taken until Nov. 25.

* “The Most Valuable Student” scholarship is open to graduating seniors who are planning four years of college. Completed applications are judged and prizes awarded at each Elk’s lodge, with winning applications sent to county, state and national committees for judging and prizes. One young man and one young woman each will receive the national first prize of $40,000. Deadline is Jan. 5. Applications are available at every high school.

The application time for the $8,000 disabled student scholarship is from January through March 15. “Disabled” is defined as “physically or neurologically impaired, visually or hearing impaired or speech/language disordered.”
