1/2 Neneh Cherry, “Home Brew,” Virgin. This record lacks the power of surprise that infused “Raw Like Sushi,” Cherry’s groundbreaking hit album of 1989. Cherry still hits like a bomb, though, thanks to “Money Love” and “I Ain’t Gone Under Yet,” songs that really seem to say something about how this young Afro-Swedish singer-songwriter is living. Her musical perspective--blending soul, rap and hip-hop with an alternative slant--is wholly unique and it’s still got power.
