Florida Tornado Loss Put at $100 Million

TAMPA, Fla. —
The insurance industry expects claims totaling $100 million from tornadoes that cut across the state early this month, causing death and destruction from Tampa Bay to Jacksonville.
The Oct. 3 twisters hit three mobile home parks and two subdivisions in Pinellas County, killing four people and injuring 138, before hopscotching across Florida. The storms also caused flooding that left hundreds homeless in Jacksonville.
