'Better Characters' Should Grow Up, Too

Re "Building Better Characters" (Oct. 1): Thank God the "character education" movement is taking root in the schools to teach honesty, responsibility and civic duty and to crack down on those unruly kids wearing nasty T-shirts.

Character education is such a good idea that I think maybe we should try the same thing on adults.

How about launching a campaign for honesty, responsibility and civic duty in the corporate boardrooms of DuPont and General Electric? How about on Wall Street? How about on the Supreme Court and in the Senate Judiciary Committee? And why not go all the way to the White House?
