NATION IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Probe Clears Spouse in Wife’s Shooting
Authorities in Mineola, N.Y., said they could not find enough evidence to prosecute a man whose wife was shot and wounded by a teen-ager they claimed was his lover. The investigation of Joseph Buttafuoco is closed, said Nassau County Dist. Atty. Denis Dillon. Prosecutors had argued that Buttafuoco was having an affair with Amy Fisher, 18, who pleaded guilty to shooting his wife, Mary Jo, last May at the couple’s home in Massapequa on Long Island. They say Fisher was jealous because Buttafuoco was ending their alleged affair. Investigators looked into allegations Buttafuoco had sex with Fisher when she was a minor, that he was involved in his wife’s shooting and was involved with the Abba Escort Service, where Fisher allegedly worked as a prostitute.
