Murray and Downey Turned Upside Down for Columns on Canada
On Oct. 22, I had the misfortune of reading in the Toronto Daily Star comments written by a reporter in your employ. His remarks made me so angry that I had to reply, but I wanted to do so to the people of your very lovely city:
We Canadians do not hate the U.S. or even the mistake of the color guard. But what we do hate is smart-mouthed, uncouth, ignorant people, who, without knowing us as a whole, proceed to belittle us.
We Canadians are proud of our vast country, with or without our problems, and we don’t have to belittle or sling smut at the U.S.A. We just wait for someone like Jim Murray to show us that our pride in Canada is justly founded.
