Leisure World

Much has been written about prejudice over the years, especially with respect to race.

More prevalent than racial prejudice is that referring to those who have passed retirement age and the choice they make about where to spend their later years.

We had always been critical of those who settled in so-called senior communities.

Now we live in Leisure World and we are very clear about our decision to live here. It does annoy us, though, to hear it called “Seizure World” or even “Geezer World.”

I respectfully submit this letter to be read by those who live outside our community so that they better understand why seniors choose to live in a society where they feel useful and vitally alive in spite of their advancing years.
