Tough Love’s Price

Share

Tough love is a two-way street (“Toughlove Had a $22,000 Price,” Oct. 15). The parents and the child have failed. It is a family matter.

The parents’ refusal to pay the bill is another example of expecting handouts--or panhandling on a bureaucratic level.

They seem to feel that it’s OK to use “tough love” with their daughter, but on the other hand, it’s not OK for the taxpayers to use “tough love” on the parents.

This behavior from the parents is hypocritical and offers insight to their failure to instill responsibility and values in their offspring.

I personally have no interest in paying for their mistakes. I would hope that acceptability would become more fashionable.
